History of the study of the ancient Russian worship (XI–XIV centuries)

The article describes the history of the study of the worship in the ancient Russian Church before the Neo-Sabaitic Typikon was introduced (the end of the XIV century). Main objectives of the article are: to analyze the spectrum of opinions of scientists about the liturgical Typikon, which was valid in Russia until the XV century, and formulate the now generally accepted view of most researchers on the subject. In the process of a chronological examination of scientific papers on this topic, the author summarizes the opinions of researchers and comes to the conclusion that the first four centuries in our Church can be considered as the period of the rule of the Stoudite Typikon. The article provides an alternative point of view on this issue, describes the distinguishing features of the Stoudite Typikon, indicates various sources for the study of ancient Russian worship. A review of the article extends to scientific papers of the XXI century and also deals with foreign literature. The survey range in the latitude does not have analogues.
