From reading to essay writing (in teaching English to adults)

Adult learners who want to get supplementary linguistic education have interest and motivation for the perfection of the language knowledge. To maintain this interest and to reach progress teachers may use short stories which serve as the base for the development of different kinds of language activities, writing in particular. In teaching adults special attention is paid not to spelling but to the subject-matter. Essay writing is supposed to be the most important kind of writing activity.
