Historical pages of Russia's participation in the international penitentiary congress (the second half of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century)

The article is devoted to topical problems of international penal cooperation of Russia and European countries in the second half of XIX – early XX century. This paper analyzes the international penitentiary congresses (congresses), progressive solutions which were aimed at implementation in practice of the detention of humanistic principles of the execution of the penalty of deprivation of liberty, based on the recognition of the inalienable rights of convicts.
