Use of arrestant labor in the fields of the conclusion of dorevolutionary Russia (XIX - the beginning of the XX century)

The article is devoted to the organization of convict work in the prisons of pre-revolutionary Russia (XIX - early XX century). Much attention is paid to the problems of forming a mechanism for the legal regulation of convicts' labor, the creation of production and economic workshops in penitentiary institutions, and the development of a system of remuneration for prisoners. The author draws a conclusion on the continuity of positive experience in the organization of convict works, accumulated in previous historical periods, and the need for its use in the practical activities of the modern criminal-executive system of Russia.
