Plot creation function of a mythologem in a fictional text (based on English fiction of the 20th century)

The scientific paper is devoted to the analysis of plot creation function of a mythologem in a fictional text on the basis of English literature. It touches upon a problem of literature and folklore and considers the interpretation of two mythologems : water and island. The importance of this work comes out of insufficiency of researches devoted to peculiarities of myths and mythologems usage in a fictional text. The analysis of a mythologem plot creation function helps us to decode the authors' intentions and to see the content depths in a fictional text.
