The English indefinite pronouns “someone” and “somebody” in terms of translation (based on the literary discourse)

The article considers different variants for actualizing the pronouns “somebody” and “someone” in the contemporary English-language literary discourse, studies the problem of their interchangeability and reveals the set of translation shifts that occur in Russian translations when rendering the given pronouns. It also studies the reasons for the translator to use these shifts. The latter are interpreted in line with the cognitive-and-discourse approach and are viewed as translation methods that can be applied by translators when working on different originals.
