In fiction works authors widely use metaphoric items not only for creating the target image, but also for communicating their attitude to the depicted phenomenon/ object. The given article looks into specifics of zoometaphor creating the image of the organs of the Soviet authorities in the corresponding period. The article deals with equivalence and adequacy of zoometaphor translation into English and German. It analyses possibilities to translate the original metaphor without losses.
