Language compression mechanisms in news reports on Twitter

The article is devoted to the study of language means of compression on semantic level in news reports on Twitter. The analysis of publications of the leading news agencies of Great Britain and the USA in the social network allowed to reveal such methods of language compression on the semantic level as the use of colloquial and national specific lexicon, phraseologisms, references and hashtags, which allow to significantly reduce the size of publication without losing its informative value.
