The article discusses the process of creating an image of a person in drawing a portrait of children of senior preschool age from the standpoint of the development of social intelligence. Social intelligence in children of preschool age is manifested in the ability to understand the emotional states and motives of their actions and the actions of other people, highlight the essential characteristics of the interaction situation, find ways out of the conflict situation, choose strategies of social behaviour and be able to apply them in different situations. The proposed model for the development of social intelligence in older preschoolers in the process of drawing a portrait includes three interrelated stages of educational work, each of which is aimed at updating certain groups of basic parameters of social intelligence (cognitive, emotional, behavioural).
