The article is devoted to the African American Vernacular English and semantic inversion of the lexical items in the novels “The Bluest Eye”, “Song of Solomon”, “Beloved” by T. Morrison. An analysis of the speech behavior of dialect-speaking communicants shows their conscious choice of words and difference between meanings of the same words in standard English and African American Vernacular English. African Americans’ speech behavior is determined by the history and cultural traditions in the USA.
