The objective of this article is to collate the achievements of the attribution theory and the peculiarities of teaching piano to children applying to the practice of teaching piano, making suggestions for improving the quality of teaching. The tasks of the article are to sort out the achievements of motivational and attribution theory related to piano teaching, to analyze the embodiment and application of attribution theory in piano teaching, and to do preliminary research of the combination of attribution theory and piano teaching. Research hypothesis-the theory of attribution may also accomplish a correcting function in regard to a student’s psychological state. Moreover, attribution is able to develop a positive attitude towards the subject, to promote better achievements and etc. Methods and results: using research published in the literature and methods of interdisciplinary studies for applying the achievements of the attribution theory to the practice of teaching piano. Applying positive attribution methods to the students' efforts and manageability helps us develop in them positive attitudes toward learning.
