At present, the problem of classification of the word-formation types such as usual, potential, and occasional ones, as well as the problem of classification of their meanings, among which modification, transposition, and mutation can be distinguished, are in the focus of attention of Russian and foreign linguists. This article discusses the forms and meanings of derivatives formed by disaffixation (dis-prefixation and dis-suffixation) in close connection with the above mentioned problems. The subject of this study is the process of disaffixation and the forms and meanings of the words formed via disaffixation in Russian and Thai. The goal of the study is to determine the forms and carry out an analysis of the meanings of derivatives formed by disaffixation. The analysis is accompanied by relevant types and examples of disaffixation. The study shows that the process of disaffixation. The study is topical due to the fact that it is the first to propose a comprehensive analysis of the features of the forms and meanings of derivatives formed by disaffixation in multistructural languages carried out at a deep morphemic level as well as at the level of word-formation. The results of this study can be useful in developing courses on morphemics and word formation of the modern Russian language and on a comparative analysis of languages in the aspect of word formation.
