The article talks about new trends in the development of inclusive education. Timely diagnosis of children with disabilities is considered as the need for an effective search for optimal conditions. Particular attention is paid to the cognitive development of children with disabilities, namely preschoolers with mental retardation. The author describes the results of a study aimed at studying the level of formation of cognitive processes in children of this category.
