Linguistic status of indigenous peoples of Yakutia in the focus of ethnic movements of the ending of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century

The article discusses the activities of public associations of aboriginal peoples of Yakutia in the framework of the preservation and development of linguistic diversity. It is noted that the support of the functional space of native languages has become an important area of activity of numerous ethnocultural associations at the end of the 20th century. By this time, many indigenous communities were in a threatening situation on the verge of complete assimilation. At the same time, the legal sphere has become an important area of interest for ethnic activists. The adoption of laws guaranteeing state support for the protection and promotion of languages allowed us to stabilize the situation and create the foundation for work in this direction in the future.
