This article actualizes the issue of the importance of continuity when students study the discipline «Physics» in technical universities. The author examines this problem by analyzing the existing methodological system of succession not only in a technical university, but also in the previous stage of education. The article presents examples of the formation of continuity in the development of scientific knowledge and the objective reasons for the insufficient formation of the modern methodological system of continuity in technical universities and schools. The author notes that the breach of succession, which is associated with the formation of students' skills in solving problems in physics, is an important criterion for evaluating the effectiveness of teaching methods and the level of learning.
