The article attempts to identify and describe ways to implement the language category of modality, the role of the subjective factor in the author's choice of language tools, as well as the interaction of these tools with the non-verbal component of the electronic popular science text. Electronic popular science text was chosen as the research material, since today it is one of the most actively replenished types of popular science text. Numerous discoveries and research in various fields of science and technology are regularly covered by both researchers and journalists, and it is the popular science style that allows one to familiarize a wide range of readers with this information The research material was published in electronic versions of the journals "Bild der Wissenschaft", "Spiegel", "Focus".
