The article emphasizes the feasibility of implementing the ideas and methods of both problem-oriented and heuristic teaching at the organization of the educational and cognitive activities. Attention is paid to introducing students to the search and research activities in the while implementing problem-heuristic training. The advantages and disadvantages of problem-heuristic training while teaching mathematics at higher education institutions are described.
