Word formation processes of allusive anthroponyms

Ismailova Elzara Ablyazisovna  (Ph.D., Senior Lecturer, Crimean Engineering and Pedagogical University named after Fevzi Yakubov)

Vatolina T.   ()

The article deals with a prefix way of word formation of allusive anthroponyms functioning in the English-language journalistic discourse. One of the main expressive means of allusiveness of English-speaking anthroponyms is various ways of word formation, in particular, affixation. In the composition of derivatives from anthroponyms, the proper name is used allusively, since it names not a specific person, but a characteristic feature of a person, a certain trait of the bearer of the name. With the help of affixal derivational elements based on the names of famous people, names of a new quality can be formed – theories, political movements, economic doctrines, and the like. Various affixes and word-formative elements indicate what exactly – a quality, theory or doctrine – is relevant in a certain communicative context.
