The phenomenon of mixed metaphor: theoretical background of the research

This article is devoted to the study of the main characteristics of metaphor throughout the development of science and mixed metaphor as a linguo-cognitive phenomenon. The evolution of the analysis of the essence of a metaphor is traced and its functions and concepts are revealed as the lines of its interpretation in order to determine the main theoretical premises for the study of mixed metaphor in the modern cognitive science.
