The article is devoted to the analysis of the features of the formation and functioning of the patronymic in the official naming of a person in the middle of the XIX century. The author considers a new stage in the development of personal naming, which is characterized by the consolidation of composite names of a person. The article considers the specifics of naming in metric books as a document of registration records that has legal significance (the presence of a namesake was extremely undesirable). The author highlights the reasons for the appearance of multicomponent naming, consisting of anthroponymic and appellative nominations, among which the patronymic is fixed as one of the leading components of the face naming model. The article presents an analysis of various nominations, in which patronymic naming is observed. The author focuses on the issue of distinguishing the concepts of "patronymic" and "patronymic" from a relatively new period of development of the anthroponymic naming formula. Having become an obligatory element of the nomination, anthroponyms on behalf of the father in their function approach the function of the modern patronymic. An attempt is made to describe the general trends in the use of patronymics in a business genre document (synthetic and analytical).
Keywords:metric book, onomastic vocabulary, anthroponymicon, anthroponym, patronym, patronymic, namesake.
