The scale of the study of time as part of the conceptual system is analyzed. Variants of interpretation of the term "concept" by various scientists are given. A comparative analysis of the reflection of the concept "time" in the German and Russian linguistic cultures is given. Similarities and differences between the two linguocultures are highlighted on the basis of the phraseological units of the German and Russian languages, which implement the concept of "time". During the work on the article, it was found that for the Germans, time is closely related to such concepts as punctuality, planning, organization, urgency, security, and the emphasis is on the future. For representatives of Russian culture, time has a focus on the past; there is a calm, one might say frivolous attitude to this resource, as evidenced by the many phraseological units that have temporal specifics.
