The article is devoted to identifying common features between philosophical and poetic types of discourses from the linguistic and cognitive viewpoints. Linguistic correlation is realized through the active self-expressive role of the language, as well as through the true and semantic capacity of the used lexemes. Cognitive similarities are expressed in the features of philosophical and poetic thinking, which is described as an interdependent process characterized by consistency, iteration, hermeneutic orientation and close connection with spiritual and moral values. In some cases, there is an interpenetration of the indicated types of discourses.
