the article analyzes the axiological essence of the proverb as one of the genres of folklore, which in fact is the purpose of the study. The situation of the real world is such that there is a need to educate a person - the bearer of national identity, who at the same time has the ability for intercultural interaction.
A multicultural society needs a multicultural personality that translates humanism and tolerance, which opens up opportunities for cultural exchange. One of the effective tools for educating such a person is the so-called reader culture.
Modern science has a significant potential in shaping the reader's culture in the period of youthful maturation, when individuality is transformed most actively.
The author is faced with the task of showing the significance of a separate, special, in addition to storing and transmitting information, interpreting function of language: we are talking about the relationship between language and the human conceptual system. The text of the article contains an analysis of the types of language interpretation in the form of selection, classification and evaluation.
One of the effective ways to convey artistic meanings is wisdom, expressed in the proverbs of different peoples. To understand the nature of a proverb, the author refers to scientific developments that contain criteria for distinguishing between proverbs and sayings. In addition, the article mentions well-known genre typologies that allow to most accurately determine the reasons for the appearance of proverbs, their scope and quality characteristics. Exploring the explanatory meaning of the proverb, the author considers a number of functions, thanks to which the instructive essence of the proverb is realized, which distinguishes this folklore genre at all times.
