The article examines modern political communication in the context of its Internet discourse. There is a peculiar boom of political issues in social networks and the influence of this circumstance on the spoken Russian language. To analyze the main linguistic means of modern political discourse, the basic concepts and categories of political communication are explained. Particular attention is paid to persistence as the dominant function of political discourse, as well as linguistic means of persistence in the implementation of strategies and tactics aimed at "lowering" in political non-institutional Internet communication based on social media materials. The concept of "oral-written speech" and the linguistic features of this new form of communication affecting all levels of language are revealed. These features are most clearly manifested at the lexical and word-formation levels, which has become the subject of research in this work. The most productive ways of the formation of occasionalisms are given, including prefixation, suffixation, complex affixal ways, universalization, addition of bases, repetition-sounding, truncation. The peculiarity of the perception of a fragment of discourse with the inclusion of occasionalism is shown. It is concluded that the use of occasionalisms contributes to a more concise and imaginative expression of thought, allows for the originality of the utterance, unpredictability, characterizes the author's attitude more vividly, provokes the perceiver to enter into dialogue and polemic, acting as a means of persistence in the communicative strategy of political discourse.
