The abstract as the metatext regarding the body text of a research article

The main components of the research article structure include the title, the abstract, the keywords group and the body text. The title, the abstract and the keywords group may be considered as the secondary text regarding the body text. These texts appear as the results of the body text compression and preserve the meaning of the original text. The current article pays the specific attention to the compression mechanisms via comparing abstracts to body texts. These objects were studied using several articles on human sciences (history and philology) published in peer-reviewed journals. The results of the research may be used in further studies of keywords choosing problems or metatextual elements inside the text of different scientific genres.
