This study analyzes the values of "wealth" and "poverty" in the linguistic consciousness of the Russian people. The author gives a brief description of axiology as a science of value and its essence, as well as the perception of the category of "money". The basis of this article is scientific works and explanatory dictionaries of the Russian language. The attitude of the Russian people to money, as well as to the values of "poverty" and "wealth" in this work was revealed through proverbs and sayings, since they contain culturally significant ethnic meanings. It has been established that value represents both the quantity of goods (wealth), as well as the well-being and great opportunities of their owner. At the same time, these values find their opposite reflection when considering the category of "poverty", but are also supported by such characteristics as sympathy, the predestination of poverty and independence from the person himself. At the same time, the Russian people have an ambiguous and ambivalent attitude towards wealth and poverty, since money is not presented as an unambiguous good.
Keywords:wealth, poverty, linguistic consciousness, Russian language, value.
