The article is devoted to the study of the initial period of creativity of Irina Knorring, a representative of the younger generation of the first wave of Russian emigrants in Paris. Her poetic works and diary prose reflect the thoughts and feelings of a Russian person in exile. The material for the analysis are two poems from the 1920s, which give an insight into the inner world of Russian emigrants. For the young Irina Knorring this is the first Parisian period in the process of creative self-discovery. On the whole, Knorring's lyrics recreate the way of life of an emigrant woman, who is immersed in self-reflection.
The aim of the study is related to the actualization of the problem of self-knowledge in the works of the emigrant poet of the first wave Irina Knorring. The scientific novelty lies in the identification of two types of poetic texts of the poet, which are important for understanding the process of self-knowledge. The result of the study is the definition of self-knowledge as the young poet Irina Knorring's reflection on her own creative path. We distinguish two directions of creative self-knowledge: the first, directed to the reflection on the outside world and correlated with the motives of exile and wandering common to immigrants, focused on the inner world and the events of the private life of the poet.
