The article deals with the genre features of V. Korotkevich's story "King Stakh's Wild Hunt". The focus of the study is the chronotope, as well as the motives, themes and system of images of the work, which are viewed through the prism of the Gothic literary tradition. Using a comparative typological approach, the author characterizes the reasons for the Belarusian writer's appeal to history, folklore, mythology and folk traditions, and also traces common typological features between the poetics of the story "King Stakh's Wild Hunt" and the programmatic works of English pre-romanticism and romanticism.
