The article discusses the personal characteristics of students that need to be taken into account in the new social conditions of educational activity in the organization of physical culture and sports work of the university: the level of claims, self-esteem and motivation. The results of testing of students of 1-3 courses are analyzed and the relationship between the level of claims, self-esteem and motivation for physical culture and sports activities is revealed.
