The purpose of this work is to substantiate the mandatory educational work of a patriotic orientation with students in a medical university and to analyze the work done. The education and upbringing of students are interrelated and are components of a single educational process. The prevalence of one process over another leads to negative and sometimes irreversible consequences. The education of patriotism is now more relevant than ever. For 30 years, a cult of lack of spirituality and consumerism has been planted in society, including in the spiritual sphere. The authors consider the forms and methods of patriotic and military-patriotic education at the medical university, based on many years of systematic and painstaking pedagogical activity at the university as part of the study of subjects of the humanitarian and natural sciences, as well as curatorial work. Particular attention is paid to the study of personalities - famous personalities, including doctors, who have made an invaluable contribution to the history of the state and Russian society.
Keywords:patriotic education, patriotism, military-patriotic education, "small Motherland", Fatherland, national identity
