The article examines certain aspects of bilingualism and multilingualism and also explores the following issues: languages that come into contact as a result of migration, bilingualism and multilingualism as a reflection of political trends and modern lifestyle, heritage languages and official languages. Many people decide to learn a new language for various reasons. Perhaps for someone it was the goal of a lifetime, and someone just wanted to watch a movie in this language without using subtitles.
However, not all people actually stop and think about what the advantages of being bilingual are. In fact, there is much more to be gained from learning a second language. So what are these advantages when it comes to the superiority of bilingualism, which are undoubtedly analyzed from the point of view of evolutionary psychology, with the assertion that knowledge of several languages ensures survival and better living conditions.
