The article describes the semantics of evaluative adjectives in the Khanty language based on Western dialects. The relevance of the study is determined by the insufficient knowledge of the vocabulary of the Khanty language in general and the system of evaluative adjectives in particular. Evaluative adjectives of the Khanty language on the material of the Kazym, Shuryshkar and Ural dialects, collected from bilingual dictionaries, and received from informants, native speakers of the Khanty language, served as an empirical basis for the study. The work used general linguistic methods of research, such as descriptive, the method of semantic observation, methods of contextual analysis and the method of comparison were used. Evaluative adjectives of the Khanty language are divided into general evaluative adjectives (yӑm ‘good’, atem ‘bad’) and particular evaluative adjectives, which we divided into seven lexico-semantic groups.
