The article reveals the potential of using project activities in the process of teaching mathematics to schoolchildren. The author demonstrates the results of a pedagogical experiment based on the introduction of the “Golden Section” circle (optional course) into mathematical education. It is shown how this class extracurricular activity influenced the academic performance and cognitive activity of schoolchildren, and the development of their motivational sphere for mastering the academic subject. Based on the data obtained, the author concludes that the use of the project method in the practice of teaching mathematics among secondary school students has a positive impact due to the introduction of elements of interactivity, collaboration, and technological diversity in the presentation of material into the educational process.
