The subject of our study is the development of provincial industrial production in the 19th century. The most important results of this development and the place of the Kazan plant of the firm of the Krestovnikov brothers in the structure of regional industrial production are analyzed. The state of the regional industry before the foundation of this enterprise is analyzed. The specific measures aimed at improving the production policy at the Kazan plant of this family firm are listed. An objective relationship is demonstrated between the commercial success of the Krestovnikov brothers and the improvement of production at their advanced chemical plant, which operated in a market economy and free labor. An important conclusion is made about the existence of a "union" of science and production in conditions of free competition.
In our work, we used, firstly, the universal methods of scientific knowledge (deduction, induction, analysis, synthesis, etc.), secondly, the most important principles of historical knowledge (principles of historicism, the principle of a comprehensive study of history, the principle of objectivity, etc.), thirdly, special methods of historical research (narrative, historical-genetic, synchronistic and other methods). All this made it possible to reveal the significance of this enterprise as a significant factor in the local industrial revolution.
