The work of Effendi Kapiev occupies a special place in Dagestan literature. During his short life, Kapiev managed to do a lot, both in poetry and in prose. A lyricist in his worldview, Kapiev appears as a poet in his prose. There are two main directions in Kapiev’s diaries: pre-war entries and front-line entries. The self-sufficient artistic value of the diaries, especially the “Front Records”, is undoubtedly. The depiction of the war and its tragic cataclysms is reflected in the diaries in a variety of entries, distinguished by genre and thematic diversity. Thus, both memoirs of Effendi Kapiev, “Dagestan Records” and “Front-line Records,” are a reflection of life at that time both in Dagestan and even in the country as a whole.
