The object of this research is conflictogenic memes and demotivators containing author’s interpretations of certain concepts or phenomena. The work is based on extensive theoretical material presented in the publications of Russian and foreign scientists. Special attention is paid to the general problems of studying creolized texts, their features, interpretations of the concepts of “creolized text”, “meme”, “demotivator”, the main approaches to their study. The actual material of this article was conflictogenic memes and demotivators, which we conventionally attributed to the category or thematic group “definition of the concept”. The key place in the work takes the establishment of the features of the correlation of the verbal and iconic parts in the studied polycode texts, as well as the analysis of logical and semantic connections between their components. It was found that in the considered examples, the ratio of verbal and iconic parts in 44% of the examples corresponds to the type of “duplication”, in 37% – “addition” and 19% – “contradiction”. The analysis of logical and semantic relationships revealed the predominance of “A is B” (ISA) coincidence relations in the sample ‒ 62%, 31% of polycode texts contain AND relations – combining and mentioning components together, and 7% – Obj. relations – the subject and the action performed on it.
