COLORONYM 青 (QING) IN CHINESE LINGUOCULTURE

The article is devoted to the problem of semasiological specificity of the color denotation 青 (qing), determined by both traditional religious and philosophical teachings of Wu-xing (five elements) and Wu-se (five pure colors) in China and a set of diachronic factors that caused semantic transformations of the coloronym and its symbolization. In this connection the etymological analysis of the character 青 (qing) is presented and its semantic load in Chinese idioms is considered.
