The main goal of the present work is analysis of English loanwords in modern German using the material of a number of texts in mass media (mainly texts of news articles from the magazine “Der Spiegel”). In addition to lexical units directly borrowed from the English language, the so-called pseudoanglicisms, which are borrowed through English from other languages. Depending on the degree of adaptation, all anglicisms are divided into 3 classes. It is shown that the third class consists of the most adapted anglicisms to the system of German language, which can be considered as part of the vocabulary of the common literary language.
