The deportation of the Chechen (self-name - Nokhchiy) and Ingush peoples (self-name - Galgai) during the Great Patriotic War represents the most difficult and turning point period in the national policy of the Soviet state. The deportation of Chechens and Ingush is part of the general series of deportations of the peoples of the USSR in the 1940s. It should be noted that repressions and acts of deportation were used previously by the country’s leadership. For example, the first victims of such a policy were also (including) the Cossacks of the Don, Kuban and Terek.
