THE CONCEPT AND STRUCTURE OF THE PHENOMENON OF CIVILIZATION WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE CIVILIZATIONAL APPROACH

This work is devoted to the study of the concept of "civilization" within the framework of the civilizational approach to the analysis of the development of societies. The variety of interpretations of this concept is revealed, focusing on various aspects of the phenomenon of civilization. Based on the above interpretations, the analysis of the key features of civilizations is carried out, their internal structure containing key and secondary elements is highlighted. The factors under the influence of which various elements are formed within civilizational systems are determined. The hypothesis of the permissibility of dividing civilizations into "archaic" and "philosophical" is confirmed. At the same time, criteria are highlighted that cannot serve as factors for distinguishing civilizations, and a distinction is made between civilizations and other social structures. The author's definition of the concept of "civilization" is given.
