The article analyzes the positive experience of using the Internet resources of the British Council educational platform in the process of teaching English to 200 students of technical specialties at the Russian Biotechnological University (Rosbiotech) and Russian University of Transport (MIIT).
During the research, the goal was set: to conduct a comparative analysis of the formation of foreign language competence in the framework of English language teaching using the British Council platform. The results before the experiment did not reveal differences in the level of language competencies. The testing was carried out using the resources of Macmillan Education, in particular, the Business English Test (BEC Preliminary) was conducted for levels B1+, B2.
In the data of a repeated study conducted after experimental sessions using the British Council platform, it was found that there are statistically significant differences between the pilot and control groups, which is confirmed by the efficiency coefficient (CE= 1.72).
The study found that the use of Worksheets is of the greatest importance. The materials of the conducted research can be used by teachers of a foreign language to improve the communication skills of students.
