The article presents a study of the issue of the presence of an economic component in the system of creation and dissemination of historical falsifications. The purpose of this study was to identify the economic interests of the subjects of historical falsifications. To achieve it, the following tasks were solved: the essence of the category "phenomenon of historical falsifications" was investigated, variations in the use of historical falsifications for economic purposes were determined, examples of the use of historical facts for economic purposes were considered. In the course of the research, the following scientific results were obtained: a refined definition of the category "phenomenon of historical falsifications" was formulated; levels of use of historical falsifications for economic purposes were highlighted; a scheme for obtaining economic benefits from falsification of historical data about Russia and the USSR was determined; recommendations were developed for the creation of the portal "Historical fakes and the benefit of interested parties" to expose falsified historical data presented in the media, online resources, printed publications, etc. In order to accurately assess historical data, it is necessary to involve experts in the field of history who will assess the veracity of information disseminated through various channels by pseudo-historians and foreign media. An important part of their work is to analyze the root causes and economic interests behind the publication of distorted historical data.
