The article examines the directions of state policy in Russia in the XVIII century in relation to civil servants. These directions are formulated based on the analysis of normative acts contained in the Complete Collection of Laws of the Russian Empire. Firstly, the dynamics of the material provision of officials of different levels using statistical indicators, their work and rest is traced. Secondly, the issues of education, treatment and health protection of employees and their family members are disclosed. Thirdly, such an aspect of state policy as pension provision for this category of the population using archival documents on the example of the Vladimir province is considered. In general, the reformatory activity of the rulers of the XVIII century was, on the one hand, aimed at improving the social well-being of civil servants, on the other hand, it imposed a number of restrictions on the use of these benefits.
