The article discusses the key aspects of the toponymic systems of the Chinese and Russian languages. It is noted that they do not coincide, which creates difficulties in their linguistic attribution, description, classification, and in the applied aspect - in the translation process, therefore, the characteristics of the toponymic systems of the Chinese and Russian languages require clarification and detail. It is stated that in modern philological science there is a need to compare the semantic volumes of toponymic terms toponym and oronym in Chinese and Russian.
