Nowadays the development of linguistic theory and practice aimed at analyzing the terminology of IT-sphere often lags behind the formation of a system of professional terms in this field. Recently, special attention of specialists dealing with the issues of computer language terminosystem has been drawn to the specifics of computer slang, which is a special linguocultural phenomenon. The relevance of studying the lexical units of hackers' slang that appeared in the digital era is due to the fact that this lexical layer, on the one hand, is dynamically developing, changing every five years, and on the other hand, is widely used not only in “professional” speech, but also in the media (press, electronic media), on the Internet, and requires consideration. The aim of the study is to review the novelties of hacker slang in the English-language media and to identify the peculiarities of translation of lexical units of this group of terms. The results of the study can find their application in lectures and practical classes of the lexicology course and stylistics course in universities, in the framework of teaching English and Russian languages, as well as in university seminars devoted to the translation of specialized technical literature and documentation.
