The scientific article is dedicated to the study of the peculiarities of translating popular science texts on aviation topics, using the analysis of the book "Drones: The First Illustrated Guide to UAVs" by M. Doherty as an example. It also addresses the uncertainty of the place of the popular science style within the system of functional styles of the Russian language. The aim of the study is to identify the characteristics of translating specialized vocabulary that contribute to the accuracy of information transfer. The tasks include analyzing the use of English lexical units and international words and their replacement with more appropriate Russian equivalents. The hypothesis of the study is that a contextual approach to vocabulary selection improves translation quality and makes it more accessible to a wider audience. The research methods include comparative analysis of original texts and their translations, as well as studying the opinions of professional translators. The main results of the study demonstrate the importance of a deep knowledge of the language and linguistic connections for accurate and high-quality translation of popular science texts in the aviation field. Careful selection of specialized vocabulary contributes to a more precise interpretation of scientific terms and enhances text perception by readers.
