In this article, the author attempts to reveal the cultural nature of the sound-visual components laughter and whistle in phraseological units of different languages from the standpoint of the linguocultural approach. It is noted that the linguocultural analysis of figurative units will determine the emergence of new data on the evaluative perception of vocal signals by a person in their associative relationship. Using the methods of component analysis, the techniques of structural and semantic classification, the author of the article shows the current classes of sound-visual phraseological units, the components of which describe the characteristics of a person and the types of relationships. As a result of the study, it was revealed that the vocal sounds like laughter and whistle in the figurative basis of phraseological units contain cultural information, characterizing not only the acoustic signal itself, but also a person as its source.
