The course towards the maximum use of the digital format became decisive in the era of the 2020-2022 pandemic, which made it possible to build a base in the shortest possible time, identify problems and outline the prospects for the transition of Russian education to a digital format. Teaching foreign languages using Internet technologies is at the forefront of this transition, being the base platform for this educational experiment. The purpose of this article is to assess the readiness of Russian education for a logical transition to the digital level of educational activities of institutions of higher and secondary schools using the results of statistical studies conducted by international and Russian research centers
