FEATURES OF LEARNING MOTIVATION OF MEDICAL COLLEGE STUDENTS

The article discusses the motives of educational activities of students in a medical college. The motives for choosing a profession, the motives influencing educational activities are singled out. More than half of those surveyed entered college quite consciously and chose the medical profession. The results of the study showed that the leading motive of educational activity among first and second year students is cognitive. Starting from the third year, the desire to acquire knowledge takes third place. The leading motive is “getting a diploma”. The motive of prestige among first-year students is in third place, among students from the second to the fourth year, the motive of prestige is in second place. In general, 38.3% of medical college students have a low level of professional motivation, since their main goal is to obtain a diploma, and not to master the chosen specialty. More than a quarter of the respondents answered that they lacked neither theoretical knowledge nor practical skills. Every third student in the fourth year focused on practical skills. The main reasons that contribute to academic achievement, students consider a favorable educational environment, methodological materials in practical classes, situational tasks. Teachers need to work on maintaining and developing the internal motives for the educational activities of medical college students.
