The article analyzes the symbolic potential of the dragon image in the works of Chinese and Russian poets of different eras in the context of the mythopoetics of the East and West, reveals a number of common ideas and motifs peculiar to both the artistic world of the writers under consideration, and universal cultural connotations of the dragon image. On the example of poetic texts by N. Gumilev, A. Akhmatova, V. Bryusov, V. Solovyov, D. Andreev, Li Bo, Bo Juyi, Liu Wan, Wang Wei, Miao Xi, Wanyan Liang consider various facets of the cultural symbolism of the dragon, demonstrating the national-specific features of the "dragon text" in Russian and Chinese poetry, analyze various variations in the actualization of archetypal meanings of the dragon image depending on ethnocultural and civilizational factors, as well as cognitive in the memory of the authors, the similarities and differences of the dragon symbolism in Russian and Chinese poetic discourses are revealed., various variants of the individual author's symbolism of the dragon in the poems of Russian and Chinese poets are considered.
